Kitkat on the road - January 2003 onwards

January 11

Happy new year.  A bit late I know, but still sincere.

Regular readers will know my computer hard disk crashed towards the end of last year taking everything with it.  A lot of stuff I wasn't too concerned about, but losing all my email addresses and holiday photos was a bit of a wrench.

Well, having spent a month getting the PC back together, the new hard disk crashed!  Well it didn't so much crash as fall asleep, never to wake.  The upshot is that if you haven't heard from me lately, I haven't forgotten you, just your address.

So what's happened in the last month?  A quiet Christmas - just what we needed.  A quiet new year - ditto.   For Christmas I got Murray Walker's autobiography and three electronic circuit testers (all the same).

Kitkat has passed MOT yet again.  The fancy yellow poly bushes were fitted without fuss by the local garage and the difference it has made to the handling of the car is unbelievable!  Previously, it handled fairly well at speed, but it tended to wander about if we were going slowly.  I had got used to it and thought it must have always been like that.  But having got the new bushes fitted I remembered how solid and stable the thing is all the time.

While I was wandering around the garage one day I managed to knock off Kitkat's right front indicator.  I put them on extensions for SVA and they've been stuck out like a pair of whiskers ever since.  The plan was to take them off post-SVA, but they'd become a bit of a Kitkat trade-mark.  Anyhow, this time I decided not to make a new one, so both extensions came off and KK now looks like all the other Cats.

The weather hasn't been too Tiger friendly recently, although I managed a trip to work and back one day when Mr Fish said the sun would shine.  Pat and I have also invested in a couple of cups of tea and sticky buns, but I'm afraid there's little Tigering news this time.

Not long now to the first show of the season. Stafford and the start of the F1 season.  Can't come soon enough.  Three cheers for Justin Wilson - another great driver from Sheffield.

16 March

Avid readers of this diary will no doubt be mourning the lack of updates that appear.  Well, they are not alone.  (OK, that one sad person may be alone, but stay with me here.)  The author also regrets the silence.

The fact is, since KitKat got built and the excitement of the first year passed, although I still love driving the car, updating the website is getting boring and pointless.  There are only so many times you can be entertained by graphic tales of our exploits going for coffee and buns.

So this is the end.  The website will remain as it still gets loads of hits - presumably from cat builders who either want to learn at the knee of the master, or point, jeer and roll around on the floor in helpless laughter at my admittedly amateur construction techniques.

The automatic update notification page will be removed (thank you to the two people who recently asked to be added - sadly, you'll not be getting an advice).

Thanks to everyone who has signed my guestbook and said hello at all the shows.  Please keep doing it.  The website isn't being updated, but I'm not dead yet.

Thanks to the whole Tigering fraternity.  What a mad lot!

And finally, thanks to everyone who visited the site.  If I had a penny for everyone who had been, I'd have £209.44 (although £150 of that is probably me).
